The desk is constructed from solid wood and features eleven drawers fitted with ornate bronze bracket handles. Distinctive barley-twist columns frame the drawer banks, complemented by finely carved borders, stippled textures and geometric carved panels. The sides and rear of the desk are also finished with decorative faux drawer panels, allowing the piece to stand freely within a room. The desk stands on rounded feet which give the piece a strong architectural base.
